1.1 Background of the Study
Malaria remains one of the most significant public health challenges in Nigeria, with communities in Damaturu Local Government Area (LGA), Yobe State, being particularly vulnerable due to limited awareness and preventive measures. Public relations (PR) plays a critical role in malaria prevention by promoting awareness campaigns, disseminating information, and encouraging community participation in preventive practices. According to Okeke and Bello (2024), PR strategies such as community engagement, media campaigns, and stakeholder collaborations are essential in reducing the prevalence of malaria. This study examines the role of PR in sensitizing communities about malaria prevention in Damaturu LGA.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite ongoing efforts, malaria continues to pose a significant health burden in Damaturu LGA due to gaps in awareness, cultural practices, and limited access to preventive resources. While PR campaigns have been employed to address these challenges, their effectiveness in the region remains underexplored.
